Mapping the Gay Guides

Mapping the Gay Guides is an effort to understand often ignored queer geographies using the Damron Address Books, an early but longstanding travel guide aimed at gay men since the early 1960s. The Damron Guides provided the Stonewall generation of queer people with a key to identify “sites of community, pleasure and politics” whereever they travelled.

The MGG uses the geographical coordinates for each location mentioned in the Damron Guides between 1965 and 1980.
